Environmental change is a change or disturbance of the environment most often caused by human influences and natural ecological processes. Environmental changes can include any number of things, and including natural disasters, human interferences, or animal interaction.

Challenges for the environment

There are a few challenges that the environment must face and try to overcome, which are often human induced processes. They are:

  • Population growth
  • Energy use
  • Climate change
  • Pollution
  • Land degradation
  • Habitat loss
  • Urbanisation
  • Exploitation

Sustainability

  • Sustainability refers to the ability to maintain a certain rate or level of the environment, through the avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance.
  • Sustainability is the ability to exist constantly. In the 21st century, it refers generally to the capacity for the biosphere and human civilisation to coexist.

Biodiversity

Biodiversity is the range of organisms that exist on the earth. Biodiversity can be measured by the number of species accounted for in a particular system, A loss of biodiversity can affect the natural environment and human existence on the planet.
